PPG attends AMC Car Body Painting Forum 2014

Sharing green coating technologies for automotive industry’s sustainable development

SHANGHAI, April 23, 2014 – PPG Industries (NYSE:PPG) was invited to attend the second AMC Car Body Painting Forum in Shanghai recently. As the only speaker on behalf of coatings suppliers, PPG shared with the audience its advanced products and technologies for automotive coatings.

With the theme of “Energy Saving and Environmental Protection,” the Car Body Painting Forum 2014 attracted many leading automotive manufacturers, coating equipment design companies, material suppliers, and experts from the China Academy of Machinery Science and Technology and the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM). Participants explored topics concerning car body painting and the latest coatings technologies.

PPG highlighted its advanced thin-film pretreatment and waterborne compact process and exchanged insights on new “green” automotive coating technologies and innovative solutions with other participants. Also, the ZIRCOBOND(R) pretreatment technology and Premium B1:B2 Compact Paint System presented by PPG demonstrated the company’s efforts to help achieve lower VOC (volatile organic compound) emissions and energy consumption by optimizing materials and processes. Zircobond pretreatment technology reduces water consumption, energy usage and cost in the pretreatment process. The Premium B1:B2 Compact Paint System can reduce energy consumption and emissions, improve production efficiency in the paint shop and help manufacturers lower carbon emissions in car manufacturing.

“PPG is the world’s leading coatings company and an innovation leader in automotive coatings. The forum provides an opportunity to showcase how PPG continues to create more sustainable automotive coatings technologies and products,” said Tim Chen, PPG product manager, substrate protection, Asia Pacific. “Adhering to our commitment to sustainable development, we will continue to optimize production processes and coatings products to help customers reduce overall costs and their environmental footprint for a more efficient and sustainable automotive coatings industry.”

Co-hosted by AMTS News and the Shanghai Automotive Engineering Society, the annual Car Body Painting Forum focuses on the latest developments and applications of car body painting technologies. It is China’s most influential forum on professional automotive coatings technologies.
