Program builds bridges between university talents, companies in China

PPG Career Intelligence Class program benefits nearly 4,000 students in 2019

SHANGHAI, December 24, 2019 – PPG (NYSE: PPG) today announced that its 2019 Career Intelligence Class program benefitted nearly 4,000 students at 15 universities in China. Since its launch in 2015, the program has helped empower and prepare more than 9,000 students to enter the workforce through career development and soft-skills training.

During two sessions in 2019, students attended courses on self-management, interpersonal interaction, administrative management, career management, life management and choice management. Professional mentors from Live2Give addressed student questions and concerns about career choice and professional development and also presented practical cases on topics such as effective communications, overcoming delay and workplace etiquette.

“We are very pleased to have participated in the Career Intelligence Class program, where our students obtained useful and practical information for their career development,” said Wenwen Sheng, a teacher from East China University of Science and Technology. “It is our sincere hope that our students will incorporate the knowledge they gained in their future career to help them achieve many professional successes.”

The Career Intelligence Class program helps students understand current workplace requirements, clarify career direction based on strengths and interests, and cultivate relevant job skills for their future careers.

“As an integral part of the PPG University Talent Power Program, the Career Intelligence Class program is an important contributor to PPG’s successful partnership with colleges and universities,” said Cathy Yan, PPG general manager, corporate and government affairs, Asia Pacific. “Through this program, we hope students can better understand the talent demands of employers, identify their professional development needs and better set their career path and objectives.”

PPG continued to implement the 2019 Career Intelligence Class program in partnership with nonprofit Give2Asia. The 15 Chinese universities involved in program were Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Beijing University of Chemical Technology, East China University of Science and Technology, Jilin University, Nanjing Tech University, Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Nanjing University, Nankai University, Renmin University of China, Shanghai Jiaotong University, South China University of Technology, Tianjin University of Finance and Economics, Tianjin University, Tsinghua University and Wuhan University of Technology.
