Aimed at creating win-win situations for its customers, partners and employees
(Shanghai, 14 October, 2014) Heraeus, the leading precious metals and technology group, today announced the opening of its Greater China Regional Headquarters in Shanghai. It is a strategic step of Heraeus toward its Vision 2020 and demonstrates its commitment to accelerating development in the Greater China region, one of its key markets. Celebrating the significant moment were nearly 100 guests including government officials, German institutions’ representatives, customers and partners together with Heraeus Holding Board of Management, Executive Committee, and Greater China management team and other employees.
"I am pleased that we have reached a new milestone in Heraeus’ long years of presence in Greater China as well as in our company’s 160-year history,” said Mr. Jan Rinnert, Chairman of Heraeus Holding Board of Management. “With our Vision 2020 setting forth clear and ambitious goals, we strive to be a major player and a technology leader in our markets including Greater China with a population of 1.3 billion people, strong economic growth and great potentials.”
Located in Caohejing Hi-tech Park, Xuhui District of Shanghai and with registered capital of US$30 million, the Greater China Regional Headquarters will provide strategic guidance, functional competencies and shared services to nearly 20 Heraeus companies in the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong and Taiwan.
“As Heraeus Holding’s representative in Greater China, we are determined to advance Heraeus’ development in the region with increased investment in new technology, facilities and people, closer collaboration between the Heraeus companies and integrated innovation initiatives,” added Dr. Richard Zhang, President of Heraeus Greater China Regional Headquarters, “I am confident that Heraeus’ development in the region will create opportunities and contribute to a sustainable and better country, which benefits our customers, partners, employees and community.”
With its world-leading technologies in precious metals, materials and technologies, sensors, biomaterials and medical products, quartz glass, and specialty light sources, Heraeus has successfully created high value solutions for, and built strong partnership with, its customers in Greater China, helping to upgrade the entire value chain of relevant industries and ultimately enhancing people’s living standards. For example, Heraeus Ultraviolet (UV) products are used by approximately 80% of the Chinese dairy companies for disinfection, which significantly improves food safety. Heraeus has also developed high conductive silver paste for the photovoltaic industry, recycling of fluorinated precious metal catalysts as well as high-quality sensors for the steel industry, all of which have contributed to environmental protection in the region.
Including Greater China, Asia has been strategically important to Heraeus. In 2013, Asian markets contributed 51% of product revenue for the Heraeus Group. Following the opening of Heraeus Greater China Regional Headquarters, Heraeus will launch its new Singapore Regional Center (RC) in December to provide services for Heraeus companies in Singapore and other Southeast Asian countries.
