SGL expands Workshop for Process Technology in China
• More than 3,000 m2 total production area
• Local assembly of large skid-mounted systems
• Shorter delivery times; enhanced service
Shanghai, October 29, 2014. The SGL Group - The Carbon Company - recently completed the workshop expansion project in Shanghai of Business Unit Process Technology. Rüdiger Mackenthun, chairman of SGL Group BU Process Technology, Christian A. Frick, Managing Director of SGL Group in China, and Shen Zhijun, Vice General Manager of Shanghai Comprehensive Industrial Development Zone attended the inauguration ceremony of the new workshop.
“China is a core market for BU Process Technology. In recent years Wengfu Group, Qinghai Salt Lake Industry Co., Ltd, and other industry leaders have awarded large-scale projects to SGL Group. With this capacity expansion we will be able to produce the whole product portfolio locally. This includes large scale and complex projects. As a result, our customers can expect reduced delivery times. Moreover, our service will benefit from the growing expertise. Overall, the investment shows our strong believe and commitment to China’s future growth”, said Mr. Rüdiger Mackenthun, chairman of SGL Group BU Process Technology.
After expansion, the total production area of BU PT in Shanghai site is more than 3,000 square meters and the assembling area is more than 700 square meters. The 18-meter height of the new workshop makes it possible to assemble skid-mounted systems.
SGL Carbon Graphite Technic Co. Ltd., a joint venture of SGL SE and Tokai Carbon, operates the workshop in Shanghai since 2006. SGL´s BU Process Technology provides unique solutions to the chemical and process industry based on material expertise, engineering competence, service dedication and project management skills where resistance to high temperatures and corrosion and thermal conductivity is required. The business scopes are equipments, systems solutions and services to chemical and related industries. The workshop is used as production, assembly and service hub for customers in China and South East Asia.
