AICM Appoints Dr. Alasdair Jelfs as Chairman

Shanghai, China (Janauary 15, 2015) – Recently, the Association of International Chemical Manufacturers (AICM) announced the appointment of Dr. Alasdair Jelfs, Managing Director of Merck Chemicals (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. as its new Chairman. Dr. Dante Rutstrom, Vice President and Managing Director, Asia Pacific, Eastman (Shanghai) Chemical Commercial is appointed as new co-Deputy Chairman.

Dr. Jelfs has a solid professional background in technology, marketing, business development and general management in his company, including long experience in Asia. The Board firmly believes he will provide further impetus to the continued growth of the Association with his strong leadership. Meanwhile, Mark W. Oberle, Senior Vice President, Asia, Celanese Corporation and Mr. Taku Segawa, Executive Officer, Chief Representative in China, Mitsubishi Chemical Holdings Corporation were also appointed to the AICM Board of Directors.

AICM strives to strengthen communication and cooperation with other international chemical organizations, related domestic governmental departments and units and Chinese and overseas chemical enterprises. The new chairman Dr. Alasdair Jelfs said “I am confident that the new leadership team will ensure that AICM continues to make a major contribution to chemical and allied industries as well as the broader economy in China”
