Ascend Performance Materials Debuts at Chinaplas 2010
Leading producer of PA66 introduces new leadership, products; Company renews commitment to Asia Pacific market and customers
HOUSTON – April 20, 2010 – Ascend Performance Materials LLC, a world leader in the manufacture and production of PA66, debuts at Chinaplas 2010 with a new name, revitalized leadership and new products, along with a strong focus on delivering reliable customer service to Asia’s nylon market.
While the name Ascend Performance Materials may be unfamiliar to Chinaplas attendees, the company’s Vydyne PA66™ resins and compounds is a well-known and trusted brand in China and other Asian markets. Ascend was established when SK Capital Partners, a private investment firm, purchased the nylon business unit from Solutia in June 2009.
“We are very excited to return to Chinaplas as Ascend Performance Materials,” says Tim Strehl, president of Ascend Performance Materials. “Our company has a rich history and proven track record of manufacturing PA66, which began in the 1950s as part of Monsanto’s Chemicals Division. We continue our focus as a reliable supplier of high-quality, consistent products to our global customers with experienced customer and technical support.”
The company’s commitment to the PA66 market and its customers can be traced directly to Ascend’s leadership team. The company’s ownership is composed of industry leaders with a vast amount of market knowledge and technical expertise, and who fully understand the unique challenges of its customers, especially in the Asia Pacific market.

The expanded Vydyne® portfolio brings a more robust and competitive range of products designed for a wide range of applications.
