Ascend Performance Materials Hires Scott Rook to Lead Plastics Operation
Company adds to highly experienced leadership team; continues commitment to PA66 market and customer service
HOUSTON – April 20, 2010 – Ascend Performance Materials LLC welcomes the arrival of Scott Rook to the position of vice president of plastics. In this role, Rook is responsible for developing the long-term growth strategy and leading the sales and marketing efforts of Ascend’s plastics operations, which is highlighted by the globally recognized Vydyne PA66™ resins and compounds.
Rook brings with him more than 17 years experience in the plastics business. Prior to joining Ascend, he was the global business unit director for Eastman Chemical Company, a specialty plastics business serving the packaging, retail and architecture market segments. He began his career with Eastman in 1992, serving the company in several capacities, including a position as the Asia-Pacific business director based in Shanghai, China.

Before starting his career in the plastics industry, Rook lived in Giessen, Germany for three years during a tour of active duty for the United States Army. He served as a platoon leader, executive officer and battalion staff officer, and was promoted to the rank of captain in 1992.
Rook has a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, Tennessee, and a master’s degree in finance from Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama. In addition, he studied for three years in China and is conversational in Mandarin Chinese.
