Ascend Announces New Vydyne Electrical and Electronic Grades

HOUSTON – May 20, 2013 — Ascend Performance Materials Inc. will launch two new product ranges in the second half of 2013.

One, a range of ultra-clean, glass-reinforced Vydyne R-series grades, is designed to benefit customers with long, continuous-injection-molding, part-production runs or who injection mold very complex parts. The new grades will have significantly reduced plate-out properties versus existing grades in the market.

“Customers will benefit from longer production runs without stopping for cleaning and maintenance of tools,” said James Chia, Ascend global electrical and electronic segment leader.

The other, a range of non-halogen, flame-retardant Vydyne ECO-series grades, is designed specifically for customers who manufacture terminal blocks, connectors and low voltage switchgear products. These new grades will have a balance of good mechanical, flame-retardant, glow-wire and electrical properties.

“The new formulation used in these ECO-series products will improve processing performance such as high-flow and low plate-out, which will reduce our customers’ manufacturing costs,” Chia said. “Ascend is focused on understanding the unique challenges our customers face and developing product solutions that address their needs.”
