NEW OPTIONS IN FASSON®-BRAND FILM AND PAPER SECURITY LABELLING

Leiden, The Netherlands - Avery Dennison have added three new materials to their extensive portfolio of Fasson®-brand tamper-evident security labelling solutions. They include the first 'void' labelstock in the world to be fully certified by HP Indigo for use on their WS4050 and WS4500 series digital presses.

'Void' labels for HP Indigo presses

Fasson PET Silver Matt Ind offers a durable solution for labels on 'limited editions' and other short-run products -- a segment where labels produced on HP Indigo presses find extensive use today. The product offers two-stage security. The material combines a 50 micron matt PET film with a 'void' message which is just visible on the label when it is applied, to alert consumers to the fact that this is a security device. At the second stage, when the label is peeled back, it performs in the normal way for a 'void' product, by leaving the word clearly visible on the substrate. It is supplied with Fasson S697 permanent adhesive -- a solvent acrylic grade which features good chemical resistance.

For every substrate

Also new to Avery Dennison's tamper-evident range is Fasson Flexsecure Silver Void, an easy-peel matt topcoated 50 micron polyester film which gives an instant dry 'void' effect when lifted from virtually any substrate -- papers, cardboard, plastics, glass, and even fabrics. Printable with all the conventional processes and thermal transfer, the product is supplied with Fasson S697 solvent acrylic adhesive.

Lightweight security paper

Complementing these two film products is a new security-grade machine-coated 60 gm2 paper, Fasson MC60 Security. This lightweight paper is free of optical brightening agents (OBAs) to give long life, and is partnered with Fasson S700 permanent acrylic adhesive which gives both good adhesion and cohesion with the facepaper. It can be converted by conventional print processes and/or thermal transfer.

These three new Fasson products provide additional functionality in the critical area of tamper evidence, and extend the already broad range of off-the-shelf security labelling solutions for both tamper evidence and overt and covert product authentication.

Customer-unique solutions

In addition to the stock Fasson security labelling products, Avery Dennison offer customer-unique 'layered' product authentication labelling solutions, especially for high-value goods or sensitive products such as foods and pharmaceuticals. These solutions can include holograms, track-and-trace functionalities such as RFID, and hidden identifiers such as customer-exclusive 'watermarks' and many nano-taggants, including DNA.
