Leiden, The Netherlands - Avery Dennison announce a new self-adhesive graphic arts film that will, they say, improve the finished quality of applied graphics, reduce waste, and save time in decal application and removal. Avery® MPI 1005 Easy Apply RS™ is the latest technological development in the Avery Graphics films range for wide-format digital printing.
Technology innovation
Avery MPI 1005 Easy Apply RS offers, says Avery Dennison Product Manager Peter Avis, 'all the advantages of the popular standard Avery MPI 1005 film -- plus the exceptional benefits of our innovative Avery Easy Apply RS technology.' It combines a long-life 53 micron conformable white gloss cast vinyl film with built-in air egress characteristics, a permanent, transparent adhesive, and a separate grey primer layer to give optimal opacity -- a feature particularly welcome when graphics are to be 'overposted'. The adhesive also features clean long-term removability, and the special Avery Easy Apply RS features of low tack and repositionability.
'Exceptional handling'
Says Peter Avis, 'Avery Easy Apply RS delivers exceptional handling characteristics for the graphics application team. I'm thinking particularly of commercial vehicle graphics and architectural signage -- particularly on glass and walls. With large decal panels printed on Avery MPI 1005 Easy Apply RS, you can slide the graphics around on the substrate -- even over compound curves -- until you're certain your positioning is absolutely perfect. Even if you need to remove the graphic completely and start again from scratch, that's no problem. The film is tremendously user-friendly: it's both repositionable and slideable. With other vinyls, inaccuracies in graphics application can sometimes mean a wasted printed graphic panel -- and expensive reprints. Avery MPI 1005 Easy Apply RS has put a stop to that. Adjustments in graphics positioning are easy and quick to make, so application time can be significantly reduced without loss of quality. Applied aesthetics
Avery MPI 1005 Easy Apply RS is designed to look like a glossy second skin once applied to a substrate, thanks to the air egress technology, which eliminates bubbles and wrinkles. For optimal, long-term durability and surface protection of inkjet-printed graphics, Avery Dennison recommend overlamination with their ultra-conformable Avery DOL 1030 3D-Laminate, which, says, Peter Avis, 'makes colour fading, scratches, and the effects of automatic car wash bays a thing of the past'.
Quality print results
Avery MPI 1005 Easy Apply RS gives high-quality print results with a wide variety of digital printers, and benefits from the web-based ICC profiles database on the Avery graphics website. Because Avery Dennison are keen to introduce the benefits of this new product to signmakers, they have also developed a dedicated website, which offers tips and tricks for signmakers using the material for the first time.
