Unique colour system for coated fabrics for fashion and interior design
Vantaa, November 2003. CPS COLOR, a leading innovator in the field of material colouring systems, has launched ‘Auricolor’, a turnkey colour solution which is a completely integrated colour management concept for coated fabrics. ‘Auricolor’ provides a broad range of advantages over the traditional colour processes used in coated fabrics, such as PVC and PU, for the furniture, fashion and interior design industry.
The Auricolor system overcomes the competitive barriers currently faced by manufacturers by giving a greater colour choice, allowing smaller batch production, minimizing downtime and enabling faster delivery. The complete system includes colorants, dispensing equipment, colour matching and formula management software, and full technical support.
Traditional coated fabric colouring processes are labour-intensive and difficult to manage. Colour must be adjusted for every batch by testing a pigment mix, adjusting it and retesting until it is released for production. CPS COLOR’s Auricolor system is different. It is based on standardized colorants and controlled dispensing, similar to the technology used by paint retailers to produce customer-specific paint colours. In one step only, Auricolor produces exactly the desired colour by using colorants that are fully controlled for colour and colour strength. Moreover, the process takes minutes rather than hours and gives ultimate reproducibility from batch to batch.
With traditional 'trial and error' colouring processes, suppliers of coated fabrics cannot predict how long it will take to create a usable pigment mix. This obliges them to maintain a high level of intermediate stocks for fast delivery and this unpredictability also makes it difficult to achieve full utilization of coating lines. The fully controlled and predictable processes of the Auricolor system from CPS COLOR eliminates the need for intermediate stocks, thereby freeing capital for other purposes, as well as making it easier to optimize coating line utilization.
Auricolor gives coated fabrics producers complete control of the tinting process. This directly translates into increased efficiency, more stable product characteristics and a reduction in both resources used and waste. Because of the importance of colour for consumers, the Auricolor system creates a powerful competitive advantage for fashion, furniture and interior design manufacturers and their retail outlets.
In designing a system for the furniture industry, CPS COLOR applied its extensive technological know-how to ensure minimal impact on the environment. The result is that Auricolor’s standardized colorants are based on a commonly used phthalate-holding plasticizer. Furthermore, anticipating future environmental regulations, CPS COLOR has also developed a phthalate-free alternative, which is available now for processors and OEMs preferring this alternative.
