Shanghai, October 30, 2018 – Clariant, a world-leader in specialty chemicals, will return to the China International Lubricants and Technology Exhibition on 7-9 November 2018 at the Shanghai New International Expo Center (SNIEC). At the show, Clariant will introduce its new Emulsogen® MTP 020 and 030 emulsifiers, in addition to highlighting the Genamin® CH 020 and Genamin® 3920 multifunctional amines and the highly effective Polyglykol base fluids.

The lubricant market in China is growing rapidly, driven by heightened demand from multiple industries such as automotive, power generation and metalworking. As the manufacturing sector continues to upgrade, the demand also grows for innovative metal working fluids that are able to satisfy the industry’s needs for higher productivity processes. At the same time, as concern for pollution-related issues and health and safety also grows, more sustainable lubrication solutions with minimized emission and health hazards are gaining in popularity.

Ultimate protection for tomorrow’s industry demand

Clariant’s new Emulsogen MTP 020 and Emulsogen MTP 030, which will be showcased during Inter Lubric China, provide both productivity and sustainability advantages. The multifunctional emulsifiers’ superior low-foaming profile effectively reduces the formation of foam in fluid reservoirs during mechanical processes of the machinery, which may otherwise cause shutdowns or the need for increased maintenance efforts.

Also providing sustainability advantages, the new hazard label-free MTP products have a favorable eco toxicological profile and are non-irritating to skin and eye, making them safer to use in the workplace. Being readily biodegradable according to OECD Test Guideline 301B and non-toxic to aquatic life, the products have been assigned German Water Hazard Class status WGK 1. Due to its excellent sustainability profile, the series has also been awarded Clariant’sEcoTain® label that recognizes products and solutions exceeding sustainability market standards, while having best-in-class performance.

More information on the Clariant’s low-foaming emulsifiers can be found at the following link to the company’s dedicated website https://www.clariant.com/low-foaming-emulsifiers.

"As one of the world’s leading specialty chemical companies, Clariant is fully committed to offering our customers in the lubricants industry highly innovative and customer-centric solutions. At Inter Lubric China, we are glad to be able to showcase some of these cutting-edge solutions, such as the low-foaming emulsifiers and the synthetic PAG base oils, to show our customers how we can make their products better," said Zhigang Miao, Head of Clariant’s Business Unit Industrial and Consumer Specialties in China.

Genamin CH 020 and Genamin 3920: making formulation more stable

Also to be highlighted at Inter Lubric China are Clariant’s Genamin CH 020 and Genamin 3920 products. These are tertiary amines used as multifunctional agents in water-based metal working formulations. The versatile additives offer excellent formulation stability while protecting machinery and work pieces due to their low copper/cobalt leaching tendency. They are ideal replacements for DCHA, which is toxic to human life and the environment.

The aqueous amines can be handled easily even at low temperatures. By applying the low VOC amines in concentrations below 25%, the resultant formulation will improve greatly in terms of both stability and dispersibility.

Increase industrial gear oil efficiency with Polyglykol base fluids

In addition, Clariant’s Polyglykol base fluids will also be featured during Inter Lubric China. These versatile polyalkylene glycols are best suited for challenging application requirements and need no formulation work, as they are readily available in a broad range of viscosities. The water soluble PolyglykolsB11/150 and D21/150 show extraordinary anti-scuffing performance, while preventing rust formation on steel and copper without adding a corrosion inhibitor, thus reducing formulation costs considerably by eliminating the need for extra additives.

Due to the product’s low friction coefficient compared to other base oils, energy losses can be reduced up to 60%. This performance advantage over mineral oil-based gear oils makes synthetic gear oils based on polyalkylene glycols more desirable, as industrial and critical operating conditions continue to happen under increasingly higher speeds, loads and temperatures as a result of a continuous drive for higher productivity.

In the meantime, the industry is looking to reduce machinery maintenance costs through reduced downtime, reduced energy consumption and extended oil change intervals. The Clariant Polyglykols’ excellent thermal conductivity allows them to transfer heat away from hot spots during gear box operation, while their good compatibility with seals leads to less premature wear of the seal that causes leakage, and therefore reduces the need to repair and clean the gear as frequently.

As a result, gear oils based on polyalkylene glycols are now the lubricant of choice, especially for worm gears. In addition to complying with challenging application requirements, they are very energy efficient and have a longer lifetime.

Clariant’s team of seasoned technical and customer service experts will be on-hand at booth C56 in Hall N3 during the three-day Inter Lubric China exhibition to showcase these products and help visitors identify the best solutions for their needs.
