Stanyl® Super Flow from DSM gets Excellence in Technology Award from Frost & Sullivan

Frost & Sullivan has awarded the European Process Enhanced Engineering Plastics Excellence in Technology Award for 2008 to Stanyl® Super Flow. Frost & Sullivan is a global growth consulting company and partners with clients to accelerate their growth.

DSM’s Stanyl Super Flow (SF) Polyamide 46 was co-developed with leading electronic connector manufacturers to provide a suitable alternative to high flow, versions of liquid crystal polymer (LCP). Stanyl SF’s advantages over high flow LCP include no micro cracking, higher weld line strength, and outstanding toughness for pin retention. With a heat deflection temperature (HDT) of 290 °C and superior retention of mechanical properties, it is perfectly suited to lead-free soldering processes. At the same time, it can be readily molded into relatively large parts that have ultra-thin sections down to 0.06 millimeters, such as notebook computer components and mobile phones.

Jason Lee, Product Manager – Stanyl, DSM Engineering Plastics Asia Pacific: “Stanyl SF offers designers the ability to control warpage, even for very long flow lengths through thin walls. Further the weld line strength allows it significant toughness compared to other materials like LCP. LVDS connectors for LCD TV's are an example where Stanyl SF greatly helps in manufacturing connectors flatter, stronger, and easier than competition.”

Dan Bishop, Marketing Manager – Stanyl, DSM Engineering Plastics: “DSM strives to continuously improve products to the ever changing market needs. This innovation award for Stanyl demonstrates the same spirit in keeping with this continuum. In 2004 Stanyl was a recipient of a Frost & Sullivan product innovation Award.”
