Husky Injection Molding Systems ltd. announces next President & CEO
Toronto, Ontario – Husky Injection Molding Systems Ltd. (TSX: HKY) today announced that its Board of Directors has selected John Galt to be Robert Schad’s successor as President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), a position Mr. Schad has held since founding Husky in 1953. Mr. Galt is currently Vice President, Operations and Chief Operating Officer (COO). The naming of Mr. Galt as successor follows Mr. Schad’s recent announcement of his intention to retire as President and CEO within the year. After succession, Mr. Schad will continue serving the company as a director and advisor on technology development and strategy. It is expected that Mr. Galt’s appointment will be made later this year.
“John has had a very successful career at Husky,” said Mr. Schad. “His strong leadership, professionalism and passion for quality, cost efficiency and best practices have had a major impact on our operations. John has also done an excellent job in the methodical rollout of our new product platform which is the foundation of our expansion into new markets, and he has demonstrated that he can grow the business. At the same time, John is a strong believer in our culture and values, and he is well respected within the company and in our industry. I am convinced that John is the right person to lead the change that is necessary to take Husky to the next level. I have complete confidence in John taking over.”
“Husky is at an exciting point in its development,” said Robert Gillespie, Chairman of Husky’s Board of Directors. “We have the opportunity to build on the strengths and solid foundation established by Robert Schad as President and CEO. Over the years, we have had the opportunity to get to know John in various roles. His track record, and his deep knowledge of Husky’s products, customers and global markets, made him an excellent and unanimous choice to lead the company.”
Since joining Husky in 1985, Mr. Galt has held a number of progressive positions in engineering, manufacturing and customer service. As General Manager of Husky’s North American machine business (1997-1999), he led the rollout of a new product line resulting in record levels of sales and profit. While based at Husky’s European campus in Luxembourg (2001-2003), he led a major initiative to restructure the operations, put in place a new leadership team, and drive aggressive growth for Husky’s hot runner business. Mr. Galt has been Vice President, Operations & COO since August 2002. In this role, he has led Husky’s global manufacturing operations with a major program to implement company-wide quality systems and best practices as well as developing a global team of strong business leaders.
