PPG to highlight expanded line of DURANAR coatings at CONSTRUCT 2014

New graffiti-resistant coatings will be featured, along with cool-metal-roof coatings

PITTSBURGH, Sept. 15, 2014 – PPG Industries’ (NYSE:PPG) coil and building products-exterior coatings group exhibited its complete line of DURANAR® coatings, including its ULTRA-COOL®, VARI-COOL®, powder and graffiti-resistant products, at CONSTRUCT 2014 in Baltimore, Sept. 10-11.

Visitors to booth 723 could find information about Duranar ULTRA-Cool coatings—formulated with PPG’s proprietary infrared-reflective (IR-reflective) coating technology—which cut energy use in buildings by deflecting solar heat. Duranar VARI-Cool coatings feature the same IR-reflective coating technology as Duranar ULTRA-Cool coatings but incorporate special pigments that appear to change color depending on ambient lighting conditions and the angle from which they are viewed.

Duranar ultra-low-volatile organic compound (VOC) powder coatings also was on display. Based on the same formulation as Duranar liquid coatings, these hard, abrasion-resistant, two-coat systems are ideal for high-traffic areas and meet low-emittance standards established by the LEED® program and other sustainable building programs.

Another highlight was PPG’s recently-introduced graffiti-resistant coating systems. Because they are formulated with a graffiti-resistant barrier in the pigmented color layer, Duranar GR (graffiti-resistant) and CORAFLON® GR products enable the removal of spray paint, lipstick, scuff marks, tape residue, bugs, tar and other substances with DURAPREP® Prep 400 graffiti remover.
