PPG highlights versatile packaging coatings solutions at Cannex & Fillex Asia Pacific
GUANGZHOU, China, May 16, 2018 – PPG (NYSE:PPG) today announced that it will highlight its latest innovations in metal packaging coatings at Cannex & Fillex Asia Pacific in Guangzhou, China, May 15-18.
For the beverage packaging market, PPG will showcase its G2 coating, which is a novel solvent-based and easy-open end interior coating; W1 coating, which is a water-based end coating; and PPG INNOVEL® HPS™ coatings, which are versatile Bisphenol A non–intent (BPA-NI) water-based interior spray products for two-piece beverage cans.
PPG will highlight three of its BPA-NI products for the food packaging market that are suitable for a wide range of food can packaging applications. These include PPG2219 coating, which is designed for the interior of two-piece food cans, and PPG5290 powder side stripe to protect the seam of three-piece cans. The company will also introduce PPG4641 coating, which is an interior coating for three-piece cans or a primer for full open-end cans that are widely used in a broad range of can packaging, such as juice, coffee and milk cans of well-known brands.
PPG also will highlight its next generation of internal liners for aluminum aerosol cans. These liners combine excellent barrier performance properties with the flexibility to handle the complex can forms that are becoming more common for monobloc products – all while meeting and anticipating the changing regulatory requirements customers demand. These products include PPG HOBATM Max Liner, which is a single component product with a higher solids content than comparable polyamide-imide offerings, and PPG HOBA VCLTM liner, which offers excellent flexibility for even the most severe can forms, including collapsible tubes.
