RHODIA PRESENTS “A WORLD OF SOLUTIONS” AT K 2010

Düsseldorf, Germany – October 28, 2010 ---- Rhodia Engineering Plastics reinforces its pledge to champion sustainable development with the launch at K 2010 of more ground-breaking innovations in materials, processing technology and advanced services.

Featured under the banner “A World of Solutions”, its pioneering advances, reflect Rhodia’s commitment to sustainability through preservation of non-renewable resources and reducing the environmental impact of its product portfolio. Listed for the third consecutive year in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI World) as one of the top-performing chemical companies worldwide in the area of social and environmental responsibility, Rhodia considers sustainable development as a source of innovation and a key part of its growth strategy.

In the months leading up to K 2010, Rhodia presented several important innovations in line with this, including bio-sourced polyamide Technyl® eXten, 4earth™ recycling solutions, “Fuel’In by Technyl®” for fuel contact applications, and Technyl® Super Impact for metal replacement.

Selected highlights on show at this year’s K fair include:

•a new generation of unfilled TechnylStar® that will allow processors to make major energy savings;

•a certified halogen-free Technyl range for the photovoltaic industry;

•Evolite by Technyl, breakthrough thermoplastic composite that will open up a world of innovation to designers and users;

•new polyamide powders that will challenge the limits of rapid plastics parts manufacturing.

Rhodia’s latest activities demonstrate its strength in putting the global economic crisis well behind it, with the company set to continue out-performing global market growth in the years to come. Its capacity utilization is already back to pre-crisis levels and expectations are that the 10%/yr growth it achieved between 2003 and 2007 can now be resumed. Rhodia’s ambitions for growth in engineering plastics are soundly based on sustainable innovation and concentration on markets showing fast and profitable growth.

Rhodia Engineering Plastics is a truly global player, particularly well positioned in fast-growing regions: some 38% of its sales are in Asia and 18% are in Latin America. It has leading positions in three major markets – Automotive & Transportation, Electric & Electronics and Construction & Industrial equipment.

”Crisis is behind us and we’ve fully recovered our volumes. Our leading positions combined with a strong presence in fast-growing regions will undoubtedly allow us to outperform upcoming market growth, as we demonstrated in the past” comments François Hincker, President of Rhodia Engineering Plastics. ”In that context, our commitment to sustainable innovation considerably increases our ability to create value”.

Four thematic zones at Rhodia’s K 2010 booth clearly identify its commitment to adding value by meeting its customers’ key challenges:

•“Proximity is a Strength”, emphasizing how the company’s customers benefit from the company’s global presence;

•“Efficiency is Value”, showcasing materials and services that reduce time-to-market and increase customer competitiveness;

•“Life is a Cycle”, presenting innovations dedicated to recycling and environmental issues;

•“Innovation is in the Air”, unveiling latest innovations for lightweight solutions.
