Univar wins ‘Chemical Distribution Company of the Year’ award
Rotterdam, The Netherlands – June 11, 2007 - Univar has received the ‘Chemical Distribution Company of the Year 2007’ award from the Institute of Transport Management (ITM) in the UK. The award, presented at London’s Park Lane Hilton on May 21, 2007, recognised the company’s dedication to customer service combined with a strong focused approach to long-term growth.
Univar received the award for achieving success with a strong community and customer-based approach. “By forging alliances and developing more cooperative client relationships to further improve distribution channels, the company is a role model for the rest of the industry,” the Awards Committee said in their commendation.
The ITM bi-annual Transport Awards recognise the achievements of organisations within various areas of the transport and logistics industry. Commenting on the award to Univar, Patrick Sheedy, ITM’s Media & PR Director said: “Customer fulfilment, understanding and predicting customer needs, and quality of service are all particularly significant in bringing a company success in this industry. It is Univar’s performance in these areas that has led us to the decision to award them ‘Chemical Distribution Company of the Year 2007’”
On accepting the award, Martin Pugh, Marketing Director for Ireland and the UK said: “At Univar we are honoured to receive this award from the ITM. The chemical industry currently faces numerous challenges in terms of regulations, growing costs, and an environmental image that is not always positive. Univar provides unrivalled product innovation from world class suppliers, technical support and an in-depth understanding of specific industry needs. This award demonstrates that we, as the European distributor with the local touch, can do successful business in a socially responsible and customer oriented way, also during more testing times.”
The Institute of Transport Management (ITM) is a non-profit organisation founded in the UK in 1977 to help monitor and improve standards in the transport industry. The Institute works in unison with government, as well as regulatory and academic bodies to encourage and promote professionalism in the transport arena through innovative research and communications programmes.
