Daylight has a high intrinsic value, in psychological, ergonomical and economical terms, This is especially true in countries such as The Netherlands, where sunlight is not always readily available. So, when the architects from CITA were asked to design a new school gymnasium, they were keen to bring in as much daylight in as possible. They selected multi-wall polycarbonate sheet filled with Cabot Nanogel. To allow as much light as possible to get in, whilst at the same time blocking annoying and dangerous reflections and glare. Additional advantages include energy savings, sound isolation and reduced risk of breakage.

Nanogel® educates the building industry

Kalwall translucent cladding with highly insulating Nanogel floods the Dance and Performance Studio with natural diffused daylight. One of Europe’s most interesting building projects where Nanogel® has been used to achieve remarkably high levels of insulation and energy-saving is a new school extension in the UK.

The Mediatheque at Briis sous Forges

The first construction of its type in France – a translucent building which exceeds Building Code RT 2005 thermal standards by using glazed cladding panels in combination with the unique Nanogel™ insulation technologyThe Mediatheque at Briis sous Forges is a town of over 3000 residents, located 35 km from Paris. The building is one of 56 projects selected by the Ministry of Culture and Communication in 2003 and designated for the improvement of urban areas. One of the Ministry’s priorities is to improve the development and dissemination of information by building modern multimedia libraries and assembly rooms.

Energy Efficient Outer Wall Glazing with Nanogel™

Ibscherhaus Munich: A transparent wall glazing system featuring Nanogel™ filled insulation panels meets high thermal and sound insulation requirements, while providing a soft, non-dazzling spread of lightInsulating panels of polycarbonate twin-wall sheet filled with Nanogel™ translucent aerogel from Cabot offer superior thermal and sound insulation while at the same time providing even and pleasant “museum quality” diffused light. In a recent successful application, Nanogel filled PC panels were installed between two layers of hardened Profilit™ profiled glass to clad the walls on the front and rear of two upper storeys added to the historic Ibscherhaus in Munich, Germany.

Cabot Nanogel® Translucent Aerogel and Alcaud SA Sign Agreement

In the first Nanogel installation project at the Givenchy Perfumes plant in Beauvais, the 30-year old single polyester roof glazing was replaced with 10 mm opal Lexan® Thermoclear® panels filled with Nanogel.Frankfurt, Germany and Boston, MA USA (November 7, 2005) Cabot Corporation announced today that it has signed an agreement with Alcaud SA of Colombe, France, for the marketing and installation of Nanogel® aerogel filled polycarbonate panels for the French building and construction market.

Cabot Nanogel® Promises Unmatched Energy Savings

Manufactured exclusively by Cabot through its patented process, Nanogel translucent aerogel is a highly light transmissive, lightweight, nanoporous material, and is permanently hydrophobic, making it both moisture and mildew resistant. Cabot’s continuous aerogel manufacturing process based on a new technology route, is housed in the first commercial plant in Frankfurt, Germany. With energy prices rising around the world, maximizing thermal performance in today’s building materials is top of mind for architects, builders, and building and home owners. The emotional and ergonomic benefits of natural daylight often compromises the desire for energy efficiency. Cabot Corporation (NYSE: CBT) today announced that its Nanogel® translucent aerogel material, provides superior energy savings and is the best translucent insulating and lightest solid material in the world.
